In honor of this weekend, I wanted to share a fun Mother’s Day activity, that made us laugh uncontrollably last year. If you are missing mom, grab your siblings or friends for a a few laughs.
Mother’s Day is such an emotional rollercoaster, I understand. If I think of it as a daughter, it feels like a gift responsibility. The economy really focuses on selling gifts for mom so you will see tons of campaigns from matching clothing to kitchen and garden products, “for mom” . Although theres nothing wrong with taking a spa day once in a while, this gift is always welcomed.
Don’t get me wrong, I do love to match my girls (Thanks Barbie), and gardening is the thirties hobby but most of these “mom” gifts are for use of the household. I like to gift and be gifted when I feel like it, not cause of an “obligatory” day. Gifts don’t equal love – simple as that.
As a mom tho, I don’t care about gifts. All I want is to laugh with my kids. Seeing them happy just makes my day. I think thats one of the reasons why doing yearly pictures is a favorite of mine.
Every year I try (emphasis on TRY) to take nice pictures with my girls, as most of you do. Looking through the years, I see growth and so much love. The pictures are treasured forever. It’s just not always easy but that’s something we talk about in this linked post.
I take pictures myself with a timer or help from G. Last year, was the best yet as a new tradition was born. We had triple the fun by doing ridiculous magazine poses. We laughed so hard, we could barely keep a straight face. I encourage you to try it out. The girls picked a picture each and absoltely nothing went to plan hahaha
Look at different magazine covers and advertisements, during this time of the year they do plenty of mom and me editorials.
You can find images by searching “mothers day editorial”,”mom magazine cover” or combinations of these words. You may even open a picture you liked and see others recommended.
Pick a few images that make you laugh and then recreate these. Make sure to enroll a family member to take the pictures or set a timer on the camera.
It doesn’t matter what you wear or if they match the inspiration picture. Theres no pressure, just have fun with it. The process of taking the pictures if what will make you laugh out loud.
The girls even laughed and compared them to the inpo this year and are taking their poses very seriously hahaha I’ve had 2024 inspo ready since last year but we haven’t done any practice. I can’t wait to attempt the new poses.
